MSD (Managed Software Distribution) at the University of GeorgiaThis is the site where the University System of Georgia gets Educational discounts on Software. Faculty and staff may NOT order directly from MSD. All orders must be purchased via Purchase Order (PO) through your unit. If you wish to buy educational software at discount for home use, see Academic Super Store below. Please read the order info section.Educational Discount Software SitesAnyone who works in education or is a student may purchase software from the Academic Super Store or the Campus Tech sites. You will need to supply some form of ID (proof that you work in education, or are a student) when you purchase from this company. OpenOfficeOpen office is a complete, free "Office Suite" like Microsoft Office. It is available for PC, Macintosh, and other platforms. OpenOffice may be distributed freely to students. The files that are created are compatible with Microsoft Office products and WordPerfect. There are two versions available: version 1.1.4 (stable - bug free) and version 1.9+ (beta - still under development). The beta version is "probably" stable enough to work well, but don't quote me! CutePDFDownload and install this pdf maker for free. When you need to make a pdf from a text docuemnt, PowerPoint or whatever, you choose File > Print, and choose the CutePDF printer. http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp Web Hosting CompaniesThese companies offer Web hosting for a fee. You should compare features of the sites to see which one best suits your needs. I cannot attest to the reliability of these sites, so caveat emptor! I have used Dreamhost for several years, and have been satisfied, but the service is a little expensive compared to others. If you have a bad experience with one of these companies, please let me know! You should read the "Gotchas" before making a decision on a hosting site.

They also produce videos about programing languages. FTP (File Transfer Protocol)FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is software that is used to upload and download pages from a Web server. There are quite a few of free programs available, but you can also pay for more robust versions. The free stuff is good enough for most jobs.

Online Survey Forms and ServicesNeed to collect data from Web forms? These are online services that allow you to collect data from surveys for statistical purposes. If you need a simple "Questions and Comments" box on a Web page, use the "Comment Box for Online Form" below on this same page. Comment Box for Online FormYou can add a comment box to your page so visitors to your Web site can send you comments and questions from your Web site. This is handy when your visitor does not have access to an email program on the computer they are using. To set up the form, simply copy the code in the file below, and paste it into your Web page where you want the comment box to appear. There is a supporting file that you must create to make the form work that will be in another file. There are instructions on how to do this in the file below. Assigning a Drive Letter for your Jump DriveJump Drives, also known as memory sticks and flash drives, are relatively new on the scene. As with any new technology, there are issues. One issue for the jump drive is that the computer does not recognize the device, therefore not assigning a drive letter to it.
