A welcome page serves several purposes for online courses.

• It's a starting place for the students when they log in for the first time.
• It is a way to set the tone of a course.
• It helps create a sense of community for the students.
• It's a way for you to introduce yourself.
• It's where you can give your students instructions on how to get started in your course. For example: "When you have finished reading this welcome page, proceed to the Learning Modules icon, and then look for the 'Start Here' module." "Read the material in the 'Start Here' module, and follow the instructions."

You can also add an image to this page if you like. (Just for the record, this is an HTML page you can edit right in Vista.)
